City of Syracuse Architecture Ceramic Tile Mural

Salem Hyde fifth graders are currently working on the City of Syracuse Architecture Ceramic Tile Mural. This interdisciplinary project is enabling 5th grade students to expand their knowledge of the history of the city of Syracuse and gain an awareness of what it means to be citizens of a broader community. Students have researched the history and architecture of Syracuse and selected images which they are interpreting as ceramic relief tiles. Each student is producing a glazed ceramic tile depicting their chosen work of architecture of the City of Syracuse. The tiles will be assembled and mounted as a mural which will be installed on the walls at Salem Hyde. This project was made possible by a grant from the Syracuse City School District Educational Foundation.
