Superhero Self-Portraits

Third grade students created self-portraits as superheroes utilizing the mediums of drawing and collage. They discussed their "superpowers" which are their special abilities and talents. A cityscape was incorporated as the background.

Authors and Illustrators Tile Mural

During the 2017-2018 school year, Salem Hyde received a grant from the Syracuse City School District Educational Foundation for an interdisciplinary project entitled 

Authors and Illustrators Tile Mural. Fifth grade students researched their favorite authors and illustrators in our school library and then created glazed ceramic tiles in art class. The tiles are student interpretations of illustrations from their chosen books. The mural, installed in the Salem Hyde library, was unveiled in a ceremony in June of 2018.
