Legislative Student Art Exhibition

Two Salem Hyde sixth grade students will have their artwork displayed in the
2016 Legislative Student Art Exhibition in the Legislative Office Building in Albany. The art exhibition, on display from February 29th to March 3rd, 2016, is presented by the New York State Art Teachers Association in partnership with New York State United Teachers. This exhibit is the leading event in celebration of Youth Art Month.

Our sixth graders have created multimedia Northwest Coast Sun Designs. The artwork was inspired by Native American Pacific Northwest art. A symmetrical design was created in crayon incorporating traditional shapes and then painted with black ink. When the ink dried, the students scratched through it to create a texture resembling carved wood.

Congratulations to these Salem Hyde students on their outstanding artistic achievement. We are proud of you!
